Alice In Chain’s Black Gives Way To Blue

September 30th, 2009 No comments

I’ve been listening to the new Alice in Chains album for the last day or so. It’s much better than I expected. I figured after 14 years and a new singer that it would be a ‘cash-in’ type of album. Nope. It’s good.

A Little Nuttery from Left and the Right

September 29th, 2009 No comments

First up Whoopi Goldberg:  ”It’s not rape Rape.”  - whatever that means; personally I’d rather not be raped or rape raped:

Next we have Rep Trent Franks – “Obama is an Enemy of Humanity”: <-click to see the video

Obama’s first act as president of any consequence, in the middle of a financial meltdown, was to send taxpayers’ money overseas to pay for the killing of unborn children in other countries,” said Frank. “Now, I got to tell you, if a president will do that, there’s almost nothing that you should be surprised at after that. We shouldn’t be shocked that he does all these other insane things. A president that has lost his way that badly, that has no ability to see the image of God in these little fellow human beings, if he can’t do that right, then he has no place in any station of government and we need to realize that he is an enemy of humanity.

Umm, yea. You both suck. The country would be better off if both of these people would just shut the fuck up.

Holy shit! I still have a bicycle

September 19th, 2009 2 comments

After going for over a month without riding I finally got back on the bicycle. The weather is just too nice today. (Sunny, 72°F). A combination of dragging front brakes on the bicycle, 2 vacations, and me being a lazy fuck has kept me from riding. The diet has been on hold too. The good news is that I haven’t gained back any of the weight I lost. Re-starting the diet today.

Here’s the data on today’s ride:

In the next election I want a negative vote

September 4th, 2009 No comments

In the next congressional election I want to be able to vote against someone else’s congressman. Or possibly have congressional seat musical chairs. Have everyone in my district vote for the representative in another district (and vice versa).

Congress’ approval rating is currently 37% but everyone likes their own representative. I want to vote against Murtha:

In 20 years, Mr. Murtha has successfully doled out more than $150 million of federal payments to what is now being called the airport for no one.

The airport has an $8.5 million, taxpayer-funded radar system that has never been used. The runway was paved with reinforced concrete at a cost of more than $17 million. The latest investment was $800,000 from the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to repave half of the secondary runway. (Never mind that the first one is hardly ever in use.)

I absolutely hate this kind of shit. He’s just buying votes:

Bill Polacek, a local businessman and a member of the airport’s board of directors, told me that the citizens of Johnstown need Mr. Murtha’s earmarks. “Quite frankly, if he didn’t do that, we wouldn’t elect him,” he said.

Really?

September 4th, 2009 2 comments

These people sound the same way the nutjobs on the left sounded when it came to President Bush.

Meanwhile, the conservative radio host Dana Loesch has launched a campaign urging parents to keep their children home on the day of Obama’s speech. In an email urging against the “Socialist Indoctrination of Americas children,” [sic] Loesch explains that Americans must not “mind our Ps and Qs and blindly follow their directives”:

Really? These kids don’t give a fuck. It’ll be luck if they even stay awake during the speech. If Reagan or Carter had given a speech directed at school kids when I was in school, I’m sure I would have slept through it. For all I know, they did and I don’t remember.

People just like to get worked up. Especially about their ‘team’. Morons.
